I have a nolan 100e modular. I would like to upgrade soon. I will probably stick with a nolan but might check out an hjc modular.

HJC AC11, but my next will probably be the CL-SP - got some really great reviews. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/hjc/cl-sp/"I'm going to go out on a limb here and say right up front that I think the CL-SP equals or surpasses any helmet I've ever tried at any price level. And believe me, that's a lot of helmets -- with many costing well over five C's. "

I've got 2 HJC CL-SPs (Phoenix and Type-O). They are nice helmets, maybe a little heavy but comfortable and vent well. Paid less than $100 each. Also have a Caberg Solo 104. It is lighter and has a dual shield (inner is tinted so no having to stop and swap when it gets dark out). It is also really noisy, makes it just about impossible to use it on the freeway. I'm kind of a gear junkie

I have a SHARK RSFi 2 full face, and a SHARK Evoline dual visor flip (modular).
I like them both for different reasons the RSFi is comfy and less noisy easier to carry and feels safer.
The Evoline has the inner sun visor and flips but is a little noisier and although lighter isnt as comfortable to carry plus has no under chin wind stopper thing.
Not that noise matters much I wear my ipod while riding.

I'm currently riding with my old Vega Summit XPV not-so-modular-anymore full face helmet. It's a piece, and needs to be trashed, but I don't have/can't afford another helmet. I used to keep it on a high shelf to keep my kids from playing with it and possibly dropping it, and guess what happened. Fell of the shelf. So now the very front part by the chin has a nice 3 inch crack in the outer plastic. I figure it's probably ok as there's really no foam there to be cracked anyway. The shield is all scratched and needs a new one, but again, due to money... The modular part broke a long time ago. The first time it broke, Vega sent me a new cable that pulls on the latches inside the chin area, but this last time they said it was discontinued and couldn't. I'm half tempted, since they didn't verify anything last time, to tell them I have the new model so I can get a cable for that and see if it fits :D I've tried other stuff, but nothing holds. So, it's now a regular full face. It's not very good. It's loud, the plastic thing that holds the "headliner" in place at the top of the shield area keeps falling ever so slightly, obstructing my view a lil bit, and i have to keep raising the shield to push it back up. Their hot glue didn't hold apparently.
I loved the GMax GM68 helmet I had. It was cheap, $129 with a clear and tinted visor. Had a LOT of vents, wasn't absurdly loud (like the Vega is) and was very comfy. It had a kinda dumb bright red looking LED thing on the back that kept turning on when it wasn't supposed to, but I replaced it with the black colored cover it came with and it wasn't so blatently hideous. Unfortunately, it died along with the deer (I put pics of it. Insurance company paid me for it, but, I had other bills that were a higher priority. I put pics of it in the Helmet Law thread in general discussion.

Mechanical equivalency: "The front tire has a 3 inch dry rot crack in the sidewall but it'll probably be ok since that part of the tire doesn't touch the ground." due to money... It's just money. Get a new helmet.

Shoei TZ-R I like it a lot, comfortable, quiet (sort of) and easy to change screens from clear to dark. I bought the loudest color on clearance!

Solid black Scorpion EXO-700 with a clear visor. Pretty good at blocking out noise, has a good number of vents, and is overall a comfortable helmet.

I just ordered a new HJC CL-15 from newenough.com - I couldn't resist, since it was on closeout for $49.99. Since my current helmet is an HJC, I like them & knew how they fit, I figured I couldn't go wrong.

I have a cheap KBC brain bucket right now, it's pretty big and looks like the chick from metroid. Since I've been wearing it all the time lately I am thinking about getting a better one, I like that one with the flip-down shades, I run into a problem of having to remember to have my the clear shield in if I'm going to be coming home after dark. I also like this helmet, It's almost 500 bucks though maybe I'll keep my bulky one for a while.

Got the red one today. The black one bought last year. Now I have choices.
Do you guys think the red one is too graphic for me the older rider?

Thanks, that's reassuring. Anyway, no one knows my age with it on. I think I'm experiencing my second childhood syndrome as I grow older.
The red should match the bike nevertheless....

Yes, very trendy. Which is cool. Everything seems to evolve from the west coast and eventually work it's way east. Keep me posted of all new fashion trends!

Some of those on the second link are ok, but Im actually lookin for the vintage looking 3/4 with the shorter snap-on bubble shield. I havent really done any seaching lately for one, but Im sure someone will be selling them again. Maybe at one of the bike shows. The helmets are not that hard to find, its the short snapon bubble shield. Thanks for the links.

I say ok, because comfort wise I don't like it for long trips...say longer then an hour. But it does have a removeable, washable liner and the vents work well. It also has one of those locks on the side so the visor can be locked in the down position when "the wind is strong" that day...or, you are riding fast...so the visor doesn't flip up. Visor pops off and on easy for cleaning.

my first helmet, the one i currently use, is a fulmer M1 ff modular. got it for $109. went to another store later for a part the one i got the helmet from didn't have and looked over their helmet prices. i was told this particular shop was high and the employees (actually owners) were snobby as hell. well, the exact same helmet they had priced for $189!!! and when i asked about the part, they just looked at me with that "how dare you ask me" stare. they weren't friendly either. and this shop pushed only honda and yamaha (90% of their business is atvs). the first one i went to could get ya whatever ya wanted but they weren't very keen on parts talk. i did find a store about 30 miles up the road that knows their stuff and had decent prices. been shopping there ever since.
