Hello All My "new" NH650 has finally arrived from Michigan, USA to Perth, Western Australia You guys have had it too good for too long - so I am sharing in the fun of owning a Nighthawk! With the dollar the way it is I should buy a boat load of them....actually there is another on it's way as you can never own too many bikes......I love the bike - FAST, very stylish and smooth - just like it's owner :Hap1:And having just restored an old XT600 the electric start is a real treat!

Glad you have joined us VW! I was suprised to hear that you bought the bike and had it shipped from Michigan....WOW. And it arrived in 1 piece! I have to admit having a special interest in your post. I lived in Oz for a couple years a long time ago and absolutely loved it. I was in Canberra.....but I got to do a short visit to Perth. The Air Base there. I was also interested in your avatar of a helo. Helo's is why I was in Oz. I was flying with the RAAF. Anyway, that is ancient history now. That is a nice looking NightHawk. As you have probably figured out this forum is a great place. There is so much knowledge here and all the folks are happy to share their knowledge and experience with the NH. Take care.

Thanks for the welcome tbante, The bike arrived safely, I guess because there are still alot of honest people out there. It was bought from someone I did not know and he did the right thing by me - thanks to you Sir! I was in the Navy flying Sea kings, oh, last century, put it that way!

Welcome to the group sir, ride safe. Seems we are really getting worldwide. I have to ask the question everyone wants to know. Please do not think of me as rude, but how much did it cost you to ship that bike around the globe? By what means did you ship it and how long did it take?
Hope you enjoy your bike as much as I do mine.
I'm so looking forward to seeing some pictures of your beautiful bike riding in your country.

It's great being amongst like minded addicts!
hppants - the bike cost $1000 US (similar to our Aussie dollar now but 97c at the time), From Michigan to LA with help from U-Ship - $400, in a container to Fremantle $1200 and then on arrival, though there is no import duty on a bike of that vintage (pre 89), another $1000 customs/quarantine/fees etc. So all up the $1000 bike cost $3600. Hard to ride it here (!) but those are the costs. To get it road registered here it needed an Australian Compliance Report (easy - it's a Honda!) was $150. But you cannot get them here and in the end it's worth what it costs to get here. As I said earlier - you guys have had it too good for too long!!!!
