It was kinda on my bucket list to hit a century on a motorcycle which I did on a long open stretch last summer.
I was amazed at how fast the NH got to 100......and it clearly had more. I didnt.

I take no pride in this but I did (220 kph = 136 mph) on my '84 Sabre V65 with no windscreen.  The limiting factor was the wind, not the power.  That bike was more the speed at which it would accelerate to that speed...  I think the specs said 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds.  I know I would shift from 3rd to 4th at 180 kph (112 mph) and that bike is a 6 speed.  :)  I wonder why I blew the motor?  (cams actually)

Technically, power WAS the limiting factor, as there wasn't enough power to overcome drag. But motorcycles are notorious for having terrible drag coefficients, which is why you can have a bike capable of a ten second quarter mile that's geared for a 170+mph top speed that can't get over 140.

That's no fault of yours, but instead a design flaw.

For real? That seems awfully fast for a 250.

Maybe I worded it wrong...  the wind was too much for me to hold on to the bike, I was being tossed around like a ragdoll so I did not have the courage to push her any more.  :)

Yeah those are pretty peppy bikes. It took a long stretch to get it there but it did it.
Heck they red line at like 14000 RPMs.

I had the little 250 for a while - it screams for sure.  The cool thing about it is it can go highway speeds all day long while most 250's cannot.  That little engine is designed to rev high.  I used to ride on the highway at 9-10k RPMS all the time.  Never had it above 80 though.  I wasn't allowed to have two bikes during that time, so unfortunately I had to sell it when I got my touring bike.  If I had the choice though, I'd still have it.

The fastest I've ever rode on any bike was probably 90mph, but I'm a wuss.  When I start feeling like I'm going to fall off the back of the bike, I slow down.

120 does seem a tad fast for the Ninja 250.  I've only seen videos of 105-110, and these guys were wound ALL the way out.  You must have been going down hill with the wind hitting you in the back.   naughty

I don't know... My speedometer only went up to 85 mph, until about a month ago. Now it goes up to 140 mph  banana although there are not a lot of places around here to go very fast. biker_h4h1

My 86 Intercepter 1000 in 1991 had her at 119mph fastest I had ever gone at that time. Was on a straight 2 or 3 mile run with no intersections near NY's JFK airport.

93 GSXR 1100 I topped about 135mph but only for a second as I was on NY's Belt Parkway very dangerous.

My current 84 700sc I have had to 85mph maybe hit 90mph on NY's grand central parkway.  Although I mostly ride her at 35mph to 55mph on local North Shore Long Island twisties as I am no longer young and stupid now Im just old and stupid LMAO

I've only been riding since last summer - taking the time out when the bike wasn't being used in the winter and it's really only about 7 or 8 months of actual riding time. I've been getting my 1985 650SC out on the highways much more recently and getting more comfortable with higher speeds and actually using the 6th gear (or overdrive on mine). Been commuting to work any time the weather allows it (about 14 miles each way). Definitely saving some mileage on my new car.

I've gotten it up to about 65 MPH + or -. It feels like it's really struggling HARD when I get her up to around 60, and into the OD gear. This is fine, since I'm still a tad squeemish at the higher speeds. If I was driving my car, it'd be totally different. That's when I'm pushing 80 MPH - not on the bike (yet)

Keep in mind that your bike loves to rev. At 65mph in 5th or 6th, you're a long ways from the powerband. Drop it to third and see what happens (hint: no longer struggling).

I know on my 450 that the 6th gear, or OD, is really only used for cruising.  It drops your RPM drastically, I'm not entirely sure why, but I would guess that it helps prevent engine wear and perhaps heat.  I just started getting out on the highway after doing my first 1k miles and I have to downshift into 5th to pass or go up some of the hills.

Highest I've hit is 70 while keeping slightly ahead of traffic.
