Sorry it took me a while to get around to posting this. Just a little scoot up Chinook Pass in Rainier National Park last June. Still a little snow on the banks.

Wow! Great road, scenery, lovely soundtrack of fairly aggressively ridden Nighthawk. What a great combo of curves and straightaways. Pretty sure passing on the double yellow (0:41, 1:18) is a no-no but the video would've suffered if it was of the back of some car.

I didn't want to cross the double yellow but they said they would hurt the children if I didn't. Thanks for the kudos.

Looks like a very nice ride.
Surprised you didn't come across more wet roads than you did.

It was a sunny day in June and the snow melt runs into steams and culverts. You have to find a balance. Go early in the day and there is less traffic. The flip side is early in the morning the road and your tires are colder. Living in Seattle I have learned to ride in the rain although no aggressively.

Just seen your post, COOL What kinda exhaust you running, not stock sounding. I HATE the rear brakes and that SOUND.

Thanks, Bike is completely stock except for the a addition of a plexifairing III. I agree with you on the sound of the brakes. I tried oiling the brakes but it didn't seem to help

Thinking back to last June I was in 3rd gear a running 3000 to 5500 rpm for a lot of that ride. The cam kicks in just under 5 grand. I probably could have shifted into higher gears but if you're familiar with Chinook it's similar to North Cascades Hwy near Diablo Lake. Big drop offs over the edge and tourists. I didn't want to get going overly fast considering traffic and all. Was up there last weekend and the road was covered with ice and snow at the junction of Chinook and Cayuse. I had to turn back before reaching the summit. Guess I have to wait for next summer to give it another go.

Beautiful scenery, and a great road. Reminds me of the Laurentians where I live to ride ( Quebec, Canada ).
Do all bikers everywhere do the wave? I have only ridden on the east coast, mostly canada and a bit of the states but it seems to be fairly common place for one biker to wave to another as they pass each other, a sign of respect. Does that happen everywhere, CA for example?

The Wave? I have experienced it up and down the west coast from the Mexican border to BC. Have friends in Ohio who have confirmed it goes on there as well. I't an acknowledgement that we are all share this love for 2 wheels. Some Harley riders ignore you if your not on a Harley but by and large we all wave. Also if a biker is by the side of the road with a problem, other bikers will stop to offer help. Not something you usually see with cagers.
Peace
