I forget the name of it, but its just automotive paint stripper in an aerosol can. At least if you get it down to bare metal, you don't have to worry about any old paint causing compatibility issues. Just remember to wear rubber gloves and eye protection when using it...long sleeves too. That stuff can burn!

Sorry to see it went bad. At least you didn't throw the tank across the shop in a temper tantrum!! I was fishing with a buddy once and he lost a big Stripper right at the shoreline. Threw his rod and reel in the river........I just shook my head.

I could do that but, the paint cracks off very easy. It wouldn't last very long.

I decided today would be a good day to service my Harley...oil change, trans/primary fliud change, check the plugs, etc... Finished with that, gave it a bath and looked over to see my NH sitting there staring at me as if to say, "what about me??" So, since I'm a little burnt out on sanding, priming, painting and repeating...I decided to set the carbs up as best I can and see if she will fire up. After a couple of hours of fiddleing around with it, I rigged up a fuel source and the NH came alive!!!! I'll tell you guys/gals something... I have built a crap load of bikes in my time and most of them being basket cases but NOTHING has compared to hearing this NH run for the first time. I am so stoked right now!!! I do need to figure a few things out though. There is a small oil leak which I need to find out where its coming from (looks like its leaking at the pan), the vacuum lines are like reading Japanese stereo instructions and the Clymers manual is not nearly as good as the factory service manual. I may need to pick one up. After putting the carbs on, I noticed one of the vacuum fittings connecting carbs 2 and 3 is missing. I didn't realize it when I was cleaning them up this past winter since alot of the bike was already apart and in boxes. Also, 2 of the O-Ring gaskets that go in between the carb and the airbox boots are missing as well. No big deal...I'll have to order some stuff from Bikebandit unless anyone here feels like donating some parts.  It feels like its been a long time since I had a productive, problem free day. I was surprised just how good it runs. I was expecting the worst since I had no idea if it even ran when I got it. Time to kick back and relax. Its been a busy day.

Just looking at your CBR600 footpegs, did they work OK in the end as I'm about to buy some and do the same? I assume they needed some grinding/spacing to fit in properly - did the spring work OK?

The springs were not usable with the pegs I bought. And yes, I had to grind/modify them to get them to work. They dont fit perfectly so, I may just go back to the stock pegs.

Me too. Unfortunately, I got distracted when I got my new bike so, I have'nt done much to it lately. I'm going to finish getting it prepped this week so maybe I can get the paint done this weekend. (Hopefully). I think the worst part about getting it done is trying to decide which bike to ride.

Did anyone here do a good footpeg replacement? mine are rotten and too expensive to replace with original parts.
