Curiosity got the better of me and I bought a Scooter to replace Scrappy. I just uncrated it today and did a good inspection on it and got it running good. I should have it plated and on the road shorty. As long as no one minds, Im gonna hang around. Heres a pic of the new ride right after I uncrated it. I have since the pic put the mirrors and barends on.

Cool...but i must have missed something. I thought you were turning Scrappy into a chopper/bobber project, not doing away with her entirely?

Oh man, that sucks. Hopefully you'll get another bike soon...not that that scoot doesn't look fun.

If I feel the need to get on the highway or do some bike rides I still have the shadow.

just because you have a shadow and scooter doesn't mean you have to leave. there are a few members that are currently hawkless

Cool man, I didn't know you had a shadow. I thought you were bikeless with the exception of the scooter. Hope you hang around.

I'm a scooter fan. I had a Honda Reflex before the Nighthawk and my wife still has her Grand Vista. Sounds like you had your scoot drop-shipped from an internet dealer or maybe I misread your post. If that's the case I hope you wouldn't mind giving feedback on the source you purchased from and the overall reliability quality of the bike. There is a lot of bad press online but I don't know how much is actually valid.
By the way, I think it's a nice looking scoot. Enjoy the ride!

Another scooter!! Is it a 150? My first scoot was a Chi 150. Everyone bags on 'em but it did just what I needed it to and never left me stranded.

I saw Zug and his new scoot this weekend, definetly a cool little ride. He's thinking about getting one for the wife too, I'm sure they will have a blast buzzing around on them.

'Grats on the new ride, Zug. And glad you're sticking around. How does the 150 scoot fit? I think they'd be a blast

I really like it. I still need to register it so I only been riding it around the buildings a little bit just breaking it in and getting used to the way it handles. I did throw the hawk tag on it and did a top speed run once down to the store and back. I got up to 53mph on the speedo which is probably 48-50. Its fast enough to get me where I need to go and slow enough that I wont be gettin in trouble on the way.

i've heard registering those scooters and bikes that come from china is really hard to do. with them not being built in the states they don't have VINs, and since they don't have a VIN, you can't get a proper title, and without a title, you can't get registered, without registration you can't get inspected....and next thing you know, you've got a 150cc scooter you ride on sidewalks or offroad only :)

Hmmmmmm...how many us here have bikes that were "built in the states?" California has more BS than anywhere to get a vehicle registered and I had no problem. I had to show a paper that my scoot met CARB standards (which is just a CA thing) and that the VIN on the scoot matched the paperwork. Took far less time than it did to get me "registered" when I moved into the state.

It's not across the board and it's most likely the exception but there are some drop-ship scoots that do have registration issues. There are a few internet dealers that aren't reputable and they have been documented on other forums and websites. A great resource for Chinese scooters is scootdawg.com, they have a very large base of Chinese scoot riders that are very helpful if an issue would arise.

yeah, fish got what i was talking about. i didn't mean bikes built in the states only, but bikes that were meant to be registered in the states that come with the vin and all that stuff already on it.

On my first attempt at buying one I did deal with one of the bad dealers and it took me a while to get my money back. So after I learned the hard lesson I did some research and found a very good company to buy one from. It cost a little more but I knew it was going to be a good scoot and it would be registerable in PA. Got off work early today and got it registered so Im all legit now. EDIT: I call the scooter "Shrek"
