OK gang I've installed the fork brace. This is weird, Yesterday I get a tracking # on it and was suppose to show up the 15th but came today ?? Maybe I get another one for free and sell So I flew out to the shop and installed it. Had to bend out the brake line brace then bend back, no problem.. No test ride it's nasty out today.

Loki Would you be interested in making a fork brace for a 700SC if I can send you some drawings? I can't sell them for profit. Against company policy. But I can give them away. So at most only charging for shipping. And yes we have a laser here at work.

Coffee_Brake
Which brake lines?
I don't remember the company but IT DOESN'T MATTER. Nowadays there are several companies out there making lines a lot cheaper than they used to. You don't have to order a line for your specific Nighthawk, you only have to order a line of the right length with the same fittings. I went on Ebay and found several companies who could make me a custom fit line for $30 shipped. I just ordered an entire set (two front brake, one rear brake and clutch) for the Vmax. When it arrives I can tell you if the stuff is good quality, but I think it's going to be great based on the guy's feedback. The older your bike is, the more you stand to gain from new lines. If you look in the real shop manuals, you'll see that hydraulic lines have a useable life and are supposed to be replaced every so often. A twenty year old bike with stock lines is certainly not braking to its capacity.

Me! Slingshot Cycles does brake lines for old Hondas, and coupon code "SOHC4" saves you 15%. I got a pair of lines for the front brake on my CB550 for $58 shipped via Priority.

I wonder what it would take to get a local shop to make some braided steel lines

I guess I have a couple of questions about fork braces. 1. The 700s has a fairly substantial fork brace, but it is rubber mounted. Are these aftermarket ones rubber mounted? 2. If the aftermarket ones aren't rubber mounted, can I solid mount the stock one for a similar effect? You can kind of see the brace in this pic.

It is kind of hard to see as the fork brace is black just like the fender, but here are two different shots of it. If you look closely, you can see the rubber around the screws. The four inner screws just hold the fender on, its the four outer ones that are attached to the forks.

Don't it work ?? take it off and ride with out, see if it makes a difference. New style will clamp rite to the fat part of lower end of fork and make that think STIFF if that OEM part don't.. I'd sure like to ride one of the older Nighthawks.. Plus they just look Bad Ass.

There were 3 runners here on Craig's list last month. I coulda got em all for about $2000 and made one sweet bike but figured the wife would KILL ME.. I hope to ride one some day I tell ya.. I'm sure I'd run a bike that fast, I've wound mine to about 89 and it still wanted to climb. The carb/pipe mod woke that 92 up some.
The outer #'s can't be MPH..
