Weather on Saturday was sunny, light wind, upper 60’s.  Or in other words – it’s saddle time.  Loki emailed me to say he was visiting his parents (20 miles from my house) and wanted to see if we could ride together.  I already had a ride planned, but hey, the more the merrier.

So Loki shows up at my house and we take off.  Here’s a picture of his bike – without the fuel cell of course.

He’s got way too much to list, but some of the more interesting features are:

Three (3) camera mounts
The MP3/Ipod connector thingy
An LED Volt Meter that is real cool

Apparently, if one adds a 10 oz glass of water to the trunk, it opens into a nice 3 bedroom house!!

So we take off to meet my other buddy.  As we leave a red light, the baffle in my header flies out and onto the road.  Talk about loud!!  Luckily, the baffle landed between lanes and Loki went back to get it.  We rode to a nearby hardware store to get a screw and locknut, and off we go.

Picked up my buddy Troy and off we go through some great twisty roads that parallel rivers and bayous.  Some with more potholes than others, though.

Don’t let those mud grips fool you.  Loki can really lean his bike.  Not long after we left, it became apparent to me that I was holding him up.  He wasn’t tailgating or anything, but I’m glad I moved over at times.

Stopped at the Steamboat Warehouse, an old Cotton Warehouse converted into a restaurant.  They were closed, but we took a break anyway.

Nice day for a ride

Continued riding to Mamou, Louisiana and stopped for lunch.  My baffle rattled loose again there and I had to walk down the street for another screw. This time we used a jam nut and some lock tight and it never lossened again.

Troy broke off North and Loki and I headed South.   At one point, we hooked up the bikes and, to be honest, to about 85 mph, the bikes are pretty much even.  Out of respect for my 26 year old bike, I’m shifting about 9,500, but I’d still say it’s a wash.

Stopped at my neighbor’s bike dealership in Abbeville to kick some tires.  Loki expressed an interest in this thing.

Maybe a stablemate – who knows?

Chewed the fat with a banker in a big Can Am and a lawyer on a Ducati Superduke (that bike is a beast).  Then headed back to my house for a couple of adult beverages.

About 200 miles of enjoyment, by far the best time I have ever had on a motorcycle.  I can’t wait until North Carolina in May.  If two NH’s was this fun, I can only dream what 8-plus will be like.

Great report, riding season is almost here.  Did you get that baffle locked down?

I see a picture that could be used in the Meet your fellow members game.

Hmm.

Burgi, let's do this. Pick your favorite local place to go, even just long enough for a quick shot. I'm a happily married, church going, safe person. Weekdays are even okay. I work right off the 405 and Lakewood Blvd.

The baffle has a small crack in it, but it was serviceable for the ride.  Still, I order a replacement from Mac ($40.00 plus s/h) and it should be here by week's end.

I forgot about that one.  That thread got so jacked, I lost sight of the game.  Guess I'll cross post the picture.

Thanks to more peeps in the warmer climes for granting us some vicarious riding.

Gotta love the candor about riding skill discrepancies.  Leave it to a Nighthawk rider to be humble enough to admit that someone else is a better rider. mol

Excellent ride.  Looks like ya'll had better weather than us Saturday, but I'll take any day in the 50's as a good riding day.
