Weather on Saturday was sunny, light wind, upper 60’s. Or in other words – it’s saddle time. Loki emailed me to say he was visiting his parents (20 miles from my house) and wanted to see if we could ride together. I already had a ride planned, but hey, the more the merrier.
So Loki shows up at my house and we take off. Here’s a picture of his bike – without the fuel cell of course.

He’s got way too much to list, but some of the more interesting features are:
Three (3) camera mounts
The MP3/Ipod connector thingy
An LED Volt Meter that is real cool
Apparently, if one adds a 10 oz glass of water to the trunk, it opens into a nice 3 bedroom house!!
So we take off to meet my other buddy. As we leave a red light, the baffle in my header flies out and onto the road. Talk about loud!! Luckily, the baffle landed between lanes and Loki went back to get it. We rode to a nearby hardware store to get a screw and locknut, and off we go.
Picked up my buddy Troy and off we go through some great twisty roads that parallel rivers and bayous. Some with more potholes than others, though.
Don’t let those mud grips fool you. Loki can really lean his bike. Not long after we left, it became apparent to me that I was holding him up. He wasn’t tailgating or anything, but I’m glad I moved over at times.
Stopped at the Steamboat Warehouse, an old Cotton Warehouse converted into a restaurant. They were closed, but we took a break anyway.
Nice day for a ride

Continued riding to Mamou, Louisiana and stopped for lunch. My baffle rattled loose again there and I had to walk down the street for another screw. This time we used a jam nut and some lock tight and it never lossened again.
Troy broke off North and Loki and I headed South. At one point, we hooked up the bikes and, to be honest, to about 85 mph, the bikes are pretty much even. Out of respect for my 26 year old bike, I’m shifting about 9,500, but I’d still say it’s a wash.
Stopped at my neighbor’s bike dealership in Abbeville to kick some tires. Loki expressed an interest in this thing.

Maybe a stablemate – who knows?

Chewed the fat with a banker in a big Can Am and a lawyer on a Ducati Superduke (that bike is a beast). Then headed back to my house for a couple of adult beverages.

About 200 miles of enjoyment, by far the best time I have ever had on a motorcycle. I can’t wait until North Carolina in May. If two NH’s was this fun, I can only dream what 8-plus will be like.
