I recently rode that road, and I've played on the four wheelers all over that area.  Don't remember ever seeing or hearing about a cave.  I'll have to check that out again.

Great report.

So was this an intended destination, or something stumbled upon?

It was an intended destination! I stumbled on an article where a La Tech class went caving there years ago,no location was given and it's now a dead link.I been looking for info ever since.
A local hid a Geocache there and thats how I got the coordinates. It's called Wolf Rock Cave.
I went in about 25 feet and the flashlight lit up another 50-75 feet till a curve.
The bottom is sandy/muddy and water is flowing,I will go back with a change of clothes and shoes.
It would be a crawl tho,I couldn't stand up in the part I was in.
hppants,I would be glad to ride there with you...its 80 miles from Big O and south of Fort Polk.

I'm in for a ride to the "cave". Got to see this first hand before I can believe there is a cave in Louisiana. Don't you need rocks to have a cave? It looks like it's in a cliff face...is it climbable?

My weekend schedule is full for the next three weeks, but any time after that.

I'm in as well.  This is on the Kistachie Scienic Byway - we could probably convince Luckylindy to join us from the northwest.

It's actually 36 miles south of there as the crow flies, closer to Fort Polk and a few miles west of Pitkin on La 10.
It would need to be a dry spell when we go,because it's on a forest service road of red dirt/sand and gravel.
I'm ready when yall are!

Now I have heard everything. I grew up 40 miles south of Shreveport and normally you never see a rock bigger than pea gravel. One of my kid treasures was a piece of petrified wood about 2x3x1. I drug it a mile through the woods home in my radio flyer. Since then I lived in Houston, Tampa but when I moved to Atlanta I went rock crazy. Love em.

Ok fellas let's start doing some hardcore planing for this ride. We all know we want to go so let's get it started. And you all know I have to plan in advance so when y'all wanna go it's about time for that July louisianna nhfm rally and we gotta wait till Loki gets back from the Midwest. So I'm gonna hand it off to " The Pants Man" since he seems to be the organizer of this group.

Team effort time, no doubt.  Here are my thoughts.

1.  Loki probably won't be able to go next weekend (7/9-7/11) and I've got a weekend planned with my wife and kids in Galveston, TX.

2.  However, I like the following weekend (7/16 - 7/18).  I would prefer Saturday 7/17, but I can be flexible.

3.  I'm hoping Luckylindy can ride south with his Posse' and join us, and anyone else for that matter.  I've got a friend who lives in Pineville and I'm sure he will want to go along.

So, I'm proposing 7/17 - what do ya'll think?  Looking forward to it.

Sorry N5TBU but I'll be sleeping on tonight in the morning if you know what I mean. Come on I'm stoked banana. I just did 450 miles on wednesday from Dallas back home and it rained off and on from Shreveport down. and I'm ready for more so lets bring it on! (The riding that is not the rain I got a little carried away my bad)  biker_h4h1 ricky super beer beer beer
