For the last week I've been obsessed with the ABC game.  Riding in August in TX will test your desire to ride a mc. Before the game started last Sunday my evening rides were few and far between but to keep up with hockeyhawk's late night jaunts in PA I rode every evening except Tuesday.  Riding at night in rural NE TX requires sonar, radar, and heat seeking missiles to destroy the suicidal deer and wild hogs that like to tackle motorcycles.  So I rode it like I stole it trying to get the pics and beat the darkness home.  I did stop for some sunset pics but my camera didn't capture the full beauty that nature provided.

Thursday night I was hustling down this 2 lane backroad at warp speed but decided to stop at this hilltop for a few shots.  I really enjoyed this ride even though it felt a bit rushed.  I was still 30+ miles from home when I stopped and made it fairly close to home b4 darkness overtook me.

Some random shots along the way...
A bug splattered shield

I didn't mean to take this one, but I like it..

Glad I was able to snag my hometown in the game.

Cool report & photos.

I noticed you used hex head sheetmetal screws to put your exhaust baffles back in place. Great idea, especially if you want to "tune" the Hodge mod.

The Husky tool bag is a good idea too. You must have been bored at one point if you had a newspaper sports section in there.... smiler

So, I rode about 400 miles in pursuit of pics for a game.  Folks at church today gave me strange looks when I told them I rode to Louisiana early today for the ABC game.

Only a fellow rider would understand riding 130 miles early Sunday morning, not getting the pics you were after yet still enjoyed the ride.  Zylks, LA is a small town just over the border.  So small that there was no sign anywhere saying I was in Zylks.  No city hall.  No businesses saying Zylks.  Zilch. This is Zylks Road.  A dirt private drive about 50 yards long.

The Bayou State.

As a matter of fact, today's ride was the best for me.  75* felt heavenly this morning.  It was starting to heat up when I finished my ride about 10am & I decided the abc game was over for me.  We reached a high of 104 today so I chilled under the AC.  Gammer, thanks for getting the game going.  It was a pleasure to chase these pics but I've played my last hand in the game, so hockeyhawk go find a Y&Z to finish it off.  I'm going back to riding just for the riding with no particular goal in mind other than to enjoy the ride.  Can't wait for cooler Fall weather and many more miles.

I just like industrial look of those screws and they hold the baffles firmly in place.  We're never as bored as cagers reading the sports while they drive. burnout

I mentioned to Loki about your fasteners - he has a loose baffle situation to deal with.  Nice sunset pics.

You're right, it does look like a mushroom cloud.  I guess it is a bit of a nuke, just millions of miles away.

Cap-It is a Slipstreamer Spitfire windshield that I painted black.  It works great for hot weather, keeps pressure off chest but has good airflow.

That's why I can't find it.  claps  LL - why did you paint the black?  Glare on your gages?  Also, what kind of paint, appliaction instructions, etc.  Thanks.

HP-I did it to cut down on glare + thought it looked good.  I just used cheap gloss black and sprayed several coats on the inside.  It's holding up well after 6 months.

I think I am going to get one of those slipstreamer spitfires luckylindy.  Did you prefer the clear to the tinted, and is that why you painted the bottom half later?  I was leaning toward the tinted myself, but do you think that would interfere with night time visibility?  I don't know how dark the tinted one really is.

Thanks

Cap-The tint won't have any effect on nighttime vis., your eyes will be way above the shield.
