As of yesterday evening Pacific standard time I am without a Honda in my garage.
I sold my 750 Nighthawk to Adrian (Brumbie13) which most of you know by now.
See thread here: http://nighthawk-forums.com/index.php/topic,6738.0.html

My son went off to college last week and I had decided to sell the Nighthawk after
him leaving. Well, Adrian shows up on my doorstep about 3 weeks ago asking if my
bike is still available and it was. So a handshake deal was done and Adrian took
delivery yesterday.

The same day Adrian came to inquire about my bike I had just called a guy about
his 1985 Suzuki GS 700 on CL. I liked what I saw and bought the Suzuki. Picture
attached. It is a complete bike nothing is missing. However, I am in the process of
going through the carburetors and cleaning up the bike. The PO I purchased it from
surprised me since he was able to start the bike and I heard it run before purchasing.
Can't tell you how many bikes I have purchased which could not start. This is my 16th
motorcycle, so far I have not had the same model twice. If you count how many UJM's
I have had, different story:)

Anyhow, I will check in on you guys from time to time. I still have my eyes open for a
CB599 or CB919.

Paul

Need to learn hot linking, I can clean carburetors:) Here is the other side, hit me
up with your comments. A few bike stats, 3 disc brakes, 80 hp, 5 speed chain drive.
This must have been the competitor to the famous 700S.

Sure looks like it.  I like the rear disk, and drilled rotors all around.  Looks like a larger fuel tank than the 700s as well.

Hope you enjoy it.

Looks good.....congrats!!

That does kinda' resemble a 700s, though a little sportier. It always amazed me how the big 3 Asian companies copied/copy each other so much. It's almost like they couldn't/can't keep anything undercover.

BTW, looks like the right brake caliper has two lines attached. One goes to the left caliper I presume?

This bike have the TRAC anti-dive which Suzuki had on certain
bikes of that era. Some guys disable it by simply removing it.
It does work, however, after reading about it, no better than
installing stiffer springs and heavier oil.

Thanks for all the comments guys. The bike needs a thorough
cleaning and the white paint is not pretty up close, pictures
are forgiving:)

Tom, don't worry, I counted the turns for the air mixture screws so we will see
if I got it right. I do not think the chain is any bigger than on the 750 Nighthawk.
However, since the chain guard is missing it might look bigger in this particular
angle in the picture. I am getting all my O-rings next week from a vendor at the
GSResources.com forum and gaskets from Cheap Cycle Parts, so will start it up
and see how smooth it runs. I will keep you guys posted.

That is a real nice bike!  I thought the GS had a mini-fairing like the Nighthawk 700s?

Well I had ignition last night! Got the beast started after finishing the carburetors with
new O-rings and float bowl gaskets. The bike stumbled a little at first then idled real
nice after I adjusted the idle a little. Still, it would not go over 4000 rpms so tonight
I am going to get a breather hose for it since it was missing.

Hondo, your Lysol method of cleaning the carbs is good, did it myself. Copying is the
best form of flattery, the guys at GSResources are now onto it as well. One who is
a member here introduced it over there. thumb
