After the airbox fix I added 2 washers to each needle and the bike ran better, but not as good as my modded '81.  The pipes began to get a faint yellow tinge to them and I assumed I was now running too rich.  I needed to pull out those baffles!  My struggle with baffles 17 years old is tacked onto the end of the original baffle mod instructions on the site's mods column. (my first official publication EVER!)  Anyway I drilled 5 1/4" holes in each side and it made a HUGE difference, the extra airflow was exactly what I needed.  The bike now runs smmmoother and accelerates as well as the old 81 with raised needles, bigger jets, and a Kerker 4 to 1 Exhaust system!  Everyone who hasn't done those 2 mods really should. (Caution, I REALLY had to push down HARD to get the 4 lock rings to seat over the washers, I used an 8mm nut driver and I thought that a couple of them were never going on but they finally did.  One of the needles looked like it was cocked slightly to the side when it went in the jet hole but I've had no running problems.)

The windshield was a little tricky to align but it went on clamps and screws all stock no problem. The lower extensions on the Plexifaring 3 keep you in a fairly wind-free pocket and channel some warm engine air up and I have been riding to work in 40's degree weather very comfortably.

It was funny but I did most of the listed work 16 years ago on my '81 but I had to relearn everything again and it was as scary as the first time.  But all of you and this site gave me the confidence to do it!  So thanks all.
